Project Scope

Stellar Energy designed and fabricated a modular water-cooled chiller plant for RagingWire, a leader in data center colocation.  The Stellar Energy chiller plant for RagingWire features an efficient modular fabrication, built-in redundancy and environmentally efficient design. The factory build approach offers several benefits, including a shortened construction schedule, improved safety, lower capital and operating costs, better construction quality control and reduced project risk.  The modules utilize environmentally friendly non-ozone depleting refrigerant. Built-in redundancy and factory built and tested design ensures 24/7 performance for mission critical functions like data storage.  Further, the modular solution provides scalability, flexibility and product engineering advantages that allows RagingWire to add cooling capacity as they need it, without any interruption to their critical facility operations.

Project Challenge

RagingWire owns and operates 830,000 square feet of data center colocation space in Sacramento, California and Ashburn, Virginia. Increasing demand for its colocation services has RagingWire expanding its Ashburn campus with a new 140,000 square foot facility along with its recently opened 180,000 square foot data center on its Sacramento campus. The company is known for delivering 100% availability and a world-class customer experience, serving top enterprise, cloud computing, Internet and government organizations. The company needed a 100% reliable packaged chiller solution for mission critical cooling that is also scalable and flexible in order to keep up with their rapid growth and expansion.
