Hospitals face unique energy demands. Not only are they challenged with rising costs, an aging population and outdated facilities, they are also the second most energy-intensive commercial building type, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. With around-the-clock operations and extensive energy requirements for ventilation, equipment, sterilization, laundry and food preparation, hospitals are two and a half times more energy intensive than commercial office buildings.
Our work with hospitals and other healthcare facilities - from district cooling systems to modular utility plants - demonstrates our ability to effectively meet this sector's critical energy needs. Our modular plants can provide all the utilities a hospital requires, including medical gases and backup power generation.
Stellar Energy has experience satisfying state regulatory agencies, such as the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and California's Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). Established following a 1971 earthquake that caused the collapse of several hospital buildings, OSHPD is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the design and construction of healthcare facilities in the state. We designed and fabricated the first OSHPD-approved modular chiller plant, meeting the state's highly stringent seismic requirements.
