Stellar Energy Grows Combined Heat & Power Business with Two New Projects

Stellar Energy, a global provider of energy plant solutions, has begun work on two new combined heat and power (CHP) plants.  The projects underway include CHP plants for a Canadian pulp mill, and a beverage production facility in the Caribbean.  With combined heat and power, also called cogeneration, electricity is generated and the waste heat is utilized to produce hot water, steam and chilled water.  Both projects are slated for completion in the first quarter of 2014.

By integrating electricity and heat, companies generate cheaper, cleaner, sustainable energy.  "Although combined heat and power is not a new technology, interest is growing as more companies realize this affordable, field-tested and proven energy plant solution can lower their utility costs, minimize their environmental impact and reduce their reliance on the electrical power grid," says Mike Solms, Senior Vice President, Stellar Energy International.  Combined heat and power systems are effective for a wide range of markets, including healthcare, data centers, food processing and distribution, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals/biopharma, hospitality/retail, commercial and universities/campuses.

Stellar Energy will manufacture the CHP modular plants remotely and test their functionality prior to each being shipped to the respective project sites. The factory build approach offers several benefits, including a shortened construction schedule, improved safety, lower capital and operating costs, better construction quality control and reduced project risk.
